Yoga Therapy is a modern application of eastern mind-body practices in that it takes into account our modern understanding of health and well-being. A certified Yoga Therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists is trained to offer private and group yoga sessions that compliment current approaches to healthcare.

Being holistic in its approach, Yoga Therapy sessions inquire into the current state of your physical, mental, and emotional health in order to best serve you. Yogic practices allow the practitioner to slow down, be present with what is, and find peace within. The progress that is experienced throughout Yoga Therapy sessions is therefore credited to the client's commitment to practicing. The Yoga Therapist's role is to hold space and pull from and share yogic and therapeutic knowledge (within their scope of practice) when relevant.

A yoga therapist is trained in applying yoga techniques—such as movement, breathwork, mindfulness, and relaxation—to support physical, emotional, and mental well-being. They understand anatomy, nervous system regulation, trauma sensitivity, and therapeutic applications of yoga to help individuals with specific health concerns.
How does yoga therapy differ from a regular yoga class?
Yoga therapy is personalized to address specific concerns, such as stress, anxiety, pain, or injury recovery. Unlike a general class, which focuses on overall fitness and flexibility, yoga therapy tailors movements, breathwork, and mindfulness techniques to support your individual needs.
What should I expect during my first session?
Your first session will include a conversation about your health history, concerns, and goals, followed by a yoga practice suited to your needs. This can include postures, movement, breathwork, relaxation, visualization, and more. After the practice, we will discuss how the practice was for you, schedule a follow-up session, and discuss what you will do on your own until we meet next.
How will this help me manage stress, anxiety, or physical pain?
Yoga therapy is a practice of finding calm and building strength in the body using practices such as movement, breathwork, strength training, meditation, visualization, and more. When we experience the impact that the practice has on your physical and mental health, we feel motivated to use these tools to bring a sense of peace and calm when it is needed, regardless of what we are living or experiencing. This process is empowering and enables you to manage stress, regulate emotions, and relieve physical discomfort in a sustainable and lasting way.
How do I know if yoga therapy is right for me?
If you're looking for a gentle, individualized approach to improving your well-being—whether for stress relief, pain management, emotional balance, or self-care—yoga therapy may be a great fit. No prior yoga experience is necessary.
What about confidentiality and safety during sessions?
Your privacy and comfort are my priority. Everything shared in sessions is confidential, and I create a supportive, judgment-free space where you can move and express yourself safely.
